| The Dodge Viper is a bit lighter than the Z. How come the Viper has SO much more grip than the Z if the contact patch doesn't change much with wider tires, and friction doesn't change much with surface area anyway? From reading skidpad tests, on equal cars the results seem to be proportional to tire size. In other words, put 225's on the Viper instead of its massive tires and see how well it grips. It seems that although putting fatter tires on a car shouldn't really increase its contact patch or grip much, in reality the car with the fattest tires has the most grip. I must be missing something.
